Today is Palm Sunday. Today, we celebrate Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem, seated on a donkey, with crowds cheering his arrival:
Matthew 21:8-11 (NIV)
A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,
“Hosanna to the Son of David!”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Hosanna in the highest heaven!”
When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?”
The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”
Less than a week later, we see a different scene:
Matthew 27:20-22 (NIV)
But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed.
“Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” asked the governor.
“Barabbas,” they answered.
“What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called the Messiah?” Pilate asked.
They all answered, “Crucify him!”
What happened to the crowd in the short span of less than a week? Listen in as Rev. Singleton explains...
I hope you enjoyed this glimpse into our Palm Sunday service! The audio was recorded during our church meeting on Zoom. If you would like to be included in these meetings, please contact us.
If you would like to read along with our Holy Week Bible reading schedule, you can find that on the post "Holy Alone."
The videos on the right are songs from the service. The top one, "All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name," was referenced in the sermon, and the bottom was played after the sermon during our meeting. I hope they help you to worship today!
